Abstract: We have experimentally and theoretically studied the sensitivity of surface plasmon fre- quency to the change in dielectric environment refractive index under conditions of lateral electro- dynamic coupling between silver nanoparticles. The considerable increase in sensing ability of close- packed nanoparticle monolayers has been established as compared with uncoupled nanoparticles.
Keywords: silver nanoparticles, surface plasmon, close-packed monolayers, optical sensor.
